School holidays – eagerly awaited by kids of all ages, awaited not so eagerly by busy parents. If you’re looking for activities to keep the young ones entertained during the holidays or weekends, look no further. At Escape HQ Auckland, we’ve got plenty of fun games for children aged 7 years and up, but fun is only the beginning. There are lots of educational benefits to our offerings too, so your kids will be engaged in an exciting activity that reinforces some essential life skills at the same time. With the holidays just around the corner, why not:
1. Take the kids through an escape room at Escape HQ
An escape room puts you and your children into a simulated world where you have to solve puzzles in order to achieve a goal like escaping from a mountain in a blizzard, surviving an island shipwreck or keeping a dairy farm from falling apart on a particularly unlucky day. Escape rooms are designed to be challenging, and the puzzles require participants to use their critical thinking and decision making skills to achieve the aim of the game.
With some spatial, numeric, and word based problems involved, children draw on what they’ve learned at school and apply their knowledge to solve the problems. Plus, the immersive narratives from each game will give your little ones’ imaginations a workout.
2. Play one of Escape HQ’s outdoor games
Our outdoor games offer many of the same benefits as the indoor games, with the added benefit of more room to play, and more time to play in. Outdoor games also rely on puzzles and clues, but also encourages exploration, navigation and a bit of exercise. Our outdoor games are fantastic for active kids, and they can bring along their own skateboard, bike or scooter (and of course, their helmet) to help them complete the game faster. Whether you go on a mission to protect the city from an impending earthquake, or take the roll of a detective hunting down some bankrobbers, you’ll find plenty of exciting challenges awaiting you at Escape HQ.
3. Try an online game with Escape HQ
This one is better suited to the older children (15 years and above) since it requires a little bit more technical proficiency. Our online games have been designed to incorporate smart devices and everyday technology into challenging, fun-filled games that can be enjoyed in your own home. Choose whether you want to stop a bomb going off or reap the benefits of a large-scale bank heist. You can play with up to 6 people from anywhere in the world, it’s a great way to enjoy time with geographically distant friends and family, and to repurpose screen time as a way to meaningfully connect with people.
