There are so many places to eat in Takapuna. From the buzziness off always popular Tok Tok and Regatta to the healthy and relaxing Street Organics and Mimosa and everything in between there is something for everyone. Eat Street is great option if you have different tastes as you can choose from any of the offerings in this cobbled alleyway and eat together and order a drink in the common space.

SHOP

If you are after vintage accessories or some pre-loved threads then Recycle Boutique, also on Hurstmere Road, is the place to head.

TAKE IN A SHOW
Expect a great night out at the Bruce Mason. From the Foo Fighters to Nano Girl to Mamma Mia. The Bruce Mason theatre is a world class live theatre venue. The Pumphouse on the edge of Lake Pupuke is also a great place to take in a live show. Great for local material such as Tim Bray productions for kids this is a lovely intimate venue in a gorgeous historic brick building.

MARKETS
The Takapuna Market is the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning. You can walk the beach before or after wondering around the many stalls. Have a chat with the bees wax shoe shine man. Listen to some great buskers playing guitars, saxophone or just belting out a great song. Grab the best bacon and egg sandwiches in town or a loaf of yummy fresh kumara bread. If you have kids take them to the juice man and watch the automatic orange juicer machine – its is mesmerising.

HIT THE BEACH
Takapuna is a beautiful long white sand beach, popular with locals and visitors alike. Take a walk on the sand and enjoy the stunning views of Rangitoto Island, enjoy a swim, take a picnic and set up by the playground for the kids or just take a book and relax on the sand. If you’re feeling like more of adventure, you can walk the rocks to Milford and the north end of the beach or wait for high tide and walk around the cliffs at the south end.
